I’ve yet to pull the trigger on the car that I will call the Sherpa-mobile once I get it, so I’m throwing another possibility at you today. Speak to me of Saab wagons such as

My best advice - avoid saabs that cost less than a grand.

Or any car for that matter. You might get lucky...it might be a bad choice.

I'd think it's mostly built from the GM parts bin. For $900, how bad can it be??

I once asked my mechanic his opinion on buying a Saab. It was the only time I’ve ever seen that man laugh.

Basically any modern Saab can be summed up thusly:
Good seats, too-light steering, torquey turbo motor.
The 2.8t V6 ones can be pretty quick but that motor is somewhat unreliable.
(My dad drives an ‘07 9-3 Aero convertible with the 2.8t that he bought new and has been mysteriously decent to maintain.)

Have a tech check it if you can, if the PCV valve hasn’t been changed/ doesnt have documentation of oil changes, the motor will probably sludge up. (have an 08 9-3 myself).
The Saab FB pages are full of people grabbing saabs for $600, putting a $100 part in and running like new.

How much of a problem is it to change the PCV valve?

The update kit is $89.99 from eeuroparts, and here’s a thread on saabcentral on how to do it! Goodluck!
